I dont know if this is ok here but surfing on youtube I found this documentary about a Close Up magician called Troy Star. Although I didnt watched it all yet I found it pretty good. I like the idea that you can watch it online and buy it if you liked it. You may take a look. I leave you a review.

"Prepare to be dazzled like never before in the movie event of the decade.
In a classic case of ambition far outweighing talent, burnt out and broke B-grade magician (Troy Star) decides to turn his life around by executing a half-baked scheme to travel the globe shooting a documentary on magic.
Once abroad, the plan starts to fall apart. In a bid to keep alive his dreams of money, women and a taste of the big-time, Star keeps hacking away at it despite the mounting odds against success.
The action, comedy and drama never stops as he weaves his way around the globe meeting a selection of real-life characters, magicians and some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry such as Cuba Gooding Jr and NBA Star Shaquille O'Neal - all headed for Las Vegas, in a feel good Hollywood style ending that will leave you inspired and totally entertained. "
I wish that people promoting their work would show respect and just
tell us they are promoting their own work. This "hey look what I found
by accedent" way of promoting is insulting. It makes the assumption
that the people reading are dim, unobservant and easily fooled. I don't
like being treated that way.
This cut and past notice was posted on a dozen messageboards - easy
to do a Google search.
Frankly this sounds pretty good. I like the premise - but I'm not going
to support this fake promotion method.

I agree - perhaps the producer was too shy and should learn some social skills. Anyway, I'm not going to watch until I get approached in the proper manner.
There is nothing wrong in marketing your film properly, as in asking people to view and comment on your work. I'd be proud to do that, if I could make a film.
I agree with you guys. Once in awhile I'll post something in a forum that I found relavent or really cool but I've never posted like that before. I think it would be best to just promote your own stuff as yourself. People think its cool to chat with filmmakers, it's like your instantly a celebrity for making any old movie 🙂

The worst part is he's probably not going to respond to any of our posts, eh? Spammers... oh well, I hope he does well with his movie regardless.

Say, I'm thinking of constructing a movie studio, and ... wait a minute, haven't I posted that here before?

It's true tho...for me anyway. I think its a lot of fun and makes the movie more special when you have the opportunity to talk to people that helped make it happen.
But then again I have a huge passion and lust for movies 🙂

I don't think anyone was offended; we're just up front about it. In the future, just say that you're a beginner, and you'd like some feedback.
Social skills is something everyone should learn, including me. 🙂
No one was offended.
Everyone who comes to these forums is either a filmmaker or
interested in filmmaking. There is nothing wrong with
promoting your movie. All we ask is to be treated with respect.
I often buy movies from my fellow filmmakers. But this "I was
surfing YouTube and found this movie" method is insulting.
And it's not even the truth.
Did you really think that method is better than introducing
yourself as the hard working filmmaker you are and asking
your peers to support your efforts?
