I'm new to the board, thanks for having me!

Quick question:

What's the general consensus of posting short films/videos online (facebook, youtube, etc.) THEN entering that particular piece into a film festival? Is it considered a negative to exhibit a film/video online before entering it to the festival circuit? Does posting it online, or on a website negate it towards any future festival consideration?

I'd love to get a pretty definitive answer. Thanks for your time.

Welcome.

Many festivals will not accept a movie that has been posted
online publicly. The definitive answer will be posted on each
festivals website. I think you'll find that all the major fests
won't consider a film previously available on line and most
of the mid range fests won't. But it's best if you target the
festivals you would like to enter and read their requirements.
