I need help. I initially got permission for a singer in the UK to use one of his songs in my film so I finished the film with that song in it. That song is one of the top 3 moments in the film so it is vital that I get permission. Now the company that owns the song is saying that if it gets distribution we'll talk about money and getting official permission. And also I have to get clearance from some other royalty company or something.

First off, I have no idea about the first thing in clearing music. Where do I get the form to sign? The place where I got the image reproduction forms and location forms don't have anything for music. And what is the standard agreement for an independant singer (not big at all, found him on myspace music)? And do I have to pay them AND the royalties people or what? Thanks!
