Hi guys I'm new here.
I'm the brain child behind the disaster called www.sticktowhatyouknow.com
I have been working on this film for two years and went through a hundred and eighty thousand bucks, and my lead actress quit.
Does any one know where to get a new one in Florida.
Or some handy suicide tips, thanks. ?xx(?
I put an ad in the Magazine Backstage West (I believe they have an East Coast edition). Ad cost like $45 to get it online immediately and in the print edition the following Thurs. I've been flooded with headshots through email and snailmail.
If you're looking for a lead you shouldn't have much of a problem. Actors are dieing for the breakout role to put something real on their resume and reel. Even if its unpaid.

Thank you verey much, can you tell me more PLEASE PLEASE, and I have no problum with $$$$$$$$.
I have everything, sets props a DVX 100a you name it and I have it, I'm missing just one small thing, DOH?:o)??:I??:p??B)??xx(??:(!????
Backstage has a Florida version.

The casting notice specific to Florida is:

Be sure to double-check everything though. Somehow they got my city wrong. The zip was right so most headshots arrived fine, but a few were bounced back. Also everyone will email to the producers name. If you want to sort out emails and things that are from this ad you might want to create a recognizable version of your name, or an alter ego. That way they stand out in your inbox and mailbox.

Good info thank you.
Can I help you out with anything, like clean your pool for a year, take out the trash, mow the lawn, hummmmmm, just tell me.?;)?
You're on the wrong coast, but I appreciate the offer. That website/magazine was knews to me. My producer (a film student) knew about it and said that's the way the producer he'd worked with before cast their project.
Seemed to work pretty well for minimal cost.

Well the good news is that I finished a new set for the film, and I got more done on the robot.

making your indy movie a sci-fi is insane... insane in a cool way, but insane nonetheless. it's ballsy to say the least.

I'm not so sure anymore: potentially you can shoot the entire thing green-screen, and suddenly most of your costs have vanished.
I'm thinking of doing it myself: I always wanted to make big SF movies with lots of spaceships and explosions, so if I can do it for the cost of some green paint, software, props, costumes and cheese sandwiches it's worth a try :).
I saw an Iain Banks-style SF short a while back which is literally just a guy with a gun in a wood: all the expensive stuff is CG, and, while the script was too wordy to be great, it worked pretty well. They did a particularly good job on animating the 'robot' character that was composited in with him.
