"An Involuntary Annunciation" - February, 2006 - Synopsis
Raffaella is a middle age, female, film director.
She is working about a short movie.
But she don't have money. She live in her car because
she can't pay the rate of her apartament.
In her movie an angel come
to the earth to make a new annunciation.
But when the angel (she-angel) arrive to the earth she forget
to whom she have to make the annunciation.
So we assiste at some "Involuntary Annunciations".
Raffaella is at the same time extremely weak and strong.
She uncompromisingly screams out the suffering she feels within.
This is why she is so extraordinarily superior to the dominant
dreams she is sorrounded by and that attempts to umiliate her.
Nobody objects to what she does; everyone consider Raffaella
to be a simpleton, and therefore "dispensable".
Giorgio Viali, a director, screenplay writer and author of short stories,
was born in Arzignano (Vicenza), on March 11, 1962.
After completing his schooling in Vicenza, he enrolled at university.
He abandoned his studies in 1994.
His first breakthrough came as a director of "A Spotless Footage", Italy, 2005,
a controversial debut feature.
Since then, he has gone on to direct some Italian Independent
films including "Arrendersi ai sogni", which was to lead to a career based
on intense experimentation.
He is currently at work on his fifth screenplay, "An Involuntary Annunciation".
In spite of his diffucult choice to remain within the crisis-ridden "independent"
circuit, Viali has choosen non-commercial, "research"-oriented films.
Considered an "awkward" director Viali has forced to look abroad for funds.
Viali is one of the most sensitive italian director to have explored
the feminine psiche and the role of women in society.
